Ron Sandnes

Bowling

Ron was born in Port Alberni in 1942 and began bowling at the age of 11

Since coming to Trail, Ron has participated in one international final and 7 national finals of 5-pin bowling. His lone international competition was representing Canada at the 1980 First International Small Ball World Championship in Manila, Philippines, where he won a silver medal in the singles finals combined.

Nationally, Ron was a member of 7 BC Men's Championship teams and has also coached the BC Single Team at the National Youth Bowling Finals. At the National Championship, Ron won 3 gold medals, 1 silver and 1 bronze, and was named to the Canadian All-Star Men's Team at the finals in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1980.

Ron has bowled a perfect game, which is 450, has scored 1,121 points with a high triple and has had a high season average of 275.4.

Ron operates Glenmerry Bowl in Trail and continues to bowl competitively and pass on his expertise to our city's youth.
