Walter Christianson

Walter was born on January 27, 1959 in Rossland. Following graduation from high school, he attended the University of Victoria to become a teacher.

Walter played lacrosse in high school and with the Rossland Redmen Senior B team from 1978 to 1980. In Victoria, Walter began to take the sport seriously and played field lacrosse for the Victoria Sea Spray Field Lacrosse team and was a member of the National Lacrosse Team from 1981 to 1984.

Walter's success in lacrosse has come as a player and coach of the Victoria Shamrocks, winning the Mann Cup, Canada's National Lacrosse Championship, three times. He also served as Coach in the Professional National Lacrosse League.

For his service to the sport, Walter was named Coach of the Year in the Western Lacrosse Association in 1990 and 2002, and was named Sport BC's Coach of the Year in 2006.

Walter's dedication to the sport of lacrosse is wide-ranging and he continues to excel as a coach and a teacher of young lacrosse players.
